Michigan Quilt Network invites you to become a member of this state-wide group of quilt makers, teachers, merchants, and all others with an interest in quilts! Don't miss an oppurtunity to preserve Michigan quilting history, join the group today!
About MQN In the fall of 1989, a group of women met and agreed to the concept of a state organization devoted to quilting. This steering committee was chaired by Jane Duvall. Through the commitee's efforts, the Michigan Quilt Network (MQN) was born. The first annual meeting conference was held in Gaylord in the fall of 1990. There were five regions formed within the state, with the representatives from each region elected to the board of directors. These regions hold their own meetings during the year and get together to discuss whats going on in their region areas, as well as hold day classes and workshops. It is a great way to keep in touch with friends, and it's always a full day of fun and memories.
The Board of Directors includes 3 members from each region, making a total of 15 representatives from all over Michigan. Four times a year they get together to discuss the inner workings of MQN and vote on current issues. Any MQN member can attend these meetings and weigh in on ideas and discussions, however only the Board is able to vote. MQN also has several commitees that anyone can be a part of, Fund Development, Public Relations, Preservation and Education, Membership, Volunteers, Historian, Michigan Quilters Link, Website, Governing Rules and Region Leadership. Please contact a region rep for more information on how to be a part of any of these commitees.
MQN strives to educate others on quilting and quilting techniques. It is a great organization that is based on cherishing quilted memories and passing them down from generation to generation. To become a member of our group, please see the Membership Info page.
